Single-stage vertical scrubber, packed column type
Oursingle-stage vertical scrubbers are the simplest solution to well-defined air pollution issues.
Their typical use is the abatement of acid gases, saline mists and the absorption of soluble VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).
The single stage scrubber tower consists of a single bed of filling bodies. Consequently, the abatement efficiency will be high if the polluted gas flow is well defined and characterized.
Certainly the single-stage scrubber bears few small-sized dust, in the quantity in which the washing solution can retain them. Consequently, this type of appliance is not suitable for the treatment of gases with high concentration of dust. Therefore we recommend other pre-abatement systems such as the Venturi Jet Scrubber or dry technologies (baghouse filters and cartridge filters).
Built on customer specifications, the standard single-stage Scrubber is completely made of Polypropylene sheet.
There are two different modes of operation:
- Co-current flow: air and washing solution pass through the filling bodies bed crossing it from top to bottom
- Counter-current flow: the polluted air flows through the scrubber from bottom to top, while the washing liquid flows from top to bottom.
Last (but not least!), for a good use of the single-stage scrubber, we recommend the dosage of targeted chemicals
- Sulfuric Acid: for the abatement of Ammonia and Amines
- Sodium hydroxide: for the abatement of organic and inorganic acids
- Sodium hypochlorite: can be added to increase the oxidizing power in addition to the two products or alone.
